School Year 2013 - 2014
Dear Barron Park Families,
We know the entire staff and parent community join us in extending a big, warm welcome to you for the 2013-14 school year at Barron Park. We want to send a special WELCOME to new families and staff members! We're so glad that you all are here. PLEASE NOTE: Start time for all grades is 8:15AM this year. Please make every effort to get your child(ren) to school on time. It's essential to their learning and classroom environment that they're here by the first bell at 8:15AM.
Many exciting programs are continuing at Barron Park this year. Smita Kolhatkar, our Educational Technology Specialist returns with more tech tips and tricks for teachers and students; classroom literacy libraries have been expanded; and, the Jr. Museum science instruction is back for all grades. Student Council will be up and running much sooner this year, with elections in September. Our partial Spanish Language Program will grow from K-1st to include 2nd grade. The PTA hopes to roll out this partial-language program to all grades in subsequent years. These programs were brought to Barron Park by the collaborative efforts of our staff with the Site Council and the PTA, receiving financial support by our PTA and the Partners In Education (PiE) school allocation.
To continue our great progress, Barron Park School depends on your PTA membership and funding through PiE donations. The PTA raises funds to support several programs at Barron Park (e.g. class trips, Noon activities, library and classroom supplies, etc.), while PiE provides our only source of funding for additional staffing (i.e. classroom aides and Spectra Art and Jr. Museum science instruction).
For the PTA to be effective and truly representative of the school, everyone's participation is essential. Every PTA membership benefits our school and our children. We want you to be a part of the Barron Park Community! Whether you have 30 minutes from home, or a couple of hours, your ideas, your time, and your talents are truly needed. Please consider volunteering, it really does make a difference in the lives of all our children!
A good way to stay connected with what's going on at Barron Park is to not only volunteer in your child's class or elsewhere on campus, but to also make sure you're signed up for eNews, our weekly email newsletter. All you have to do is send your email address to email@example.com.
On behalf of the teachers, staff, PTA, and Site Council, we all THANK YOU in advance for your support and participation. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact any of us. Have a wonderful school year and we look forward to seeing you around the school campus.
