2002-2003 School Year

FlagSeptember 11, 2002
Everyone at Barron Park made a handprint for a flag in memory of the tragedy on September 11, 2001. We hung our flag by the MP Room and gathered together for songs and a moment of silence.

October 20, 2002: Fall Work Day
Barron Park parents and students pitched in to complete many tasks to improve our school. Volunteers set up the book faire, built a platform for our reading garden, cleaned the sandboxes, pruned roses, organized the emergency supplies, laminated materials, built planters, and constructed an impressive squirrel guard to protect Room 17’s tulip bulbs.

October 21-25, 2002
This year’s Book Fair was a huge success. Thanks to our wonderful parent organizers and our supportive Barron Park families, we raised money for our school and added to our classroom libraries.

Halloween October 31, 2002: Halloween Celebration
We celebrated Halloween by dressing up in costume and parading around the playground. Our new Student Council Officers (Presidents Jordan, Vice President Jasper, Co-Recorders Sam and Natasha, and Historian Ellen) organized the parade and announced the classes. This year the Barron Park staff decided to bring their favorite books to life by dressing up as storybook characters.

December 11, 2002: Crazy Hair and Hat Day
Our first spirit day of the year was a great success and there were lots of silly hats and crazy hair at Barron Park!

December 16-20, 2002
It rained and rained and rained the week before Winter Break. A huge branch crushed part of the fence next to the creek behind Rooms 17 and 18. And our poor field looked so much like a lake that a sea gull decided to move in!
January 22, 2003: Clone Day
The Barron Park staff looked a lot alike on Clone Day. Luckily most of them were back to normal the next day!

March 1, 2003: 7th Annual Juana Run
Check out the 8 K Results and One Mile Results and the Kid Results.

May 2003
We have all enjoyed watching our new reading garden grow from a bare patch of ground to a place we can all enjoy.
